In place to support women in their efforts to make progress, become professionals, and become leaders in today’s field of Architecture in the United States

We all know Chicago is an Architecture ‘mecca’.

From Mies to FLW, and SOM, Gehry, Piano, Ando, and the new Krueck+Sexton, Gang...  all have created quite the compilation of architecture within the city’s fabric. Now, you are next.

For this award we call you, ladies, to design the next big thing on Chicago’s waterfront.

In a property owned by the city, one with a desired yet ultimately unknown destiny.

Project Description

Located right on Chicago’s waterfront, the project site is an odd shaped, narrow, vertically oriented, peninsula-like lot owned by the City.

It was part of the City’s proposal for the Olympics.

The Task is for your design to “CONNECT AND ACTIVATE” the space to the existing City’s fabric. Use or typology is for you to determine. However...

Be mindful of what exists in the City now, the most used spaces, the most architectural spaces. Think of what may be missing, or what may be needed. A successful venture, of any kind (even a new building), is the one that solves a problem or meets a need / demand. The locals / public will be the judge of this award, as the submissions will be on display in a location to be disclosed somewhere in the City of Chicago. We’ll let you know...

And remember : a couple or few good images are much better than many mediocre ones... Did you read the book ?
