Alvaro Siza won the second edition of the Trienal-Millennium BCP prize . The President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva delivered the Prize, which consists of a work entitled "We are the Houses", specifically conceived by Rui Chafes, having in mind Triennale's theme, Let's Talk About Houses.

In each edition, the maximum prize to be awarded seeks to distinguish the carrier of a Portuguese or foreign architect that consistantly standed out in the international context and for the contribution given to architectural culture of the last decades.

The three finalists were Álvaro Siza, João Filgueiras Lima Lelé and Nuno Teotónio Pereira
