Associate Curator
Works closely with the curator and the director to develop, define, and execute a program of live events and public programs at MoMA PS1. Oversees the organization and execution of all MoMA PS1 event programming, including recurring events (e.g. Warm Up music series) as well as workshops, artist lectures, performances, and other special events. Works with the curator and the director to conceptualize a strategic, overarching, distinct institutional profile for live programming in the multidisciplinary context that the museum offers. Actively promotes and nurtures strong intra-institutional working relationships between curatorial, development, special events, and communications staff at both MoMA PS1 and The Museum of Modern Art. Manages junior curatorial and support staff involved in the production of the events organized under the leadership of the associate curator. Liaises with artists and organizations represented in related programs. Remains informed of current activities in contemporary art and practice through sustained research and exposure to cultural happenings, initiatives, and organizations, with the ultimate goal of making recommendations to senior staff. Reports to Director, MoMA PS1.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred. Three to five years museum curatorial or live-event programming experience. Demonstrated initiative and discernment, as well as project management skills and experience managing junior staff. Knowledge and competence to conceive, initiate, direct, and produce all manner of public and live event programming. Knowledge of basic office procedures and management skills. Knowledge of a foreign language, especially German, needed for project-related work. Superior judgment, high level of professionalism, initiative, and strong verbal and written communication capabilities. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
