4th Urbenviron International Congress on Environmental Planning and Management wil happen at Cairo and aims to bring together scientists, scholars, planners, policy makers, students, representatives of NGOs and other stakeholders from across the globe.

The 4th International Congress on Environmental Planning & Management, builds upon a series that started 2005 in Brasilia and evolved to another two conferences in Berlin (2007) and Seoul (2009). As with previous meetings, the URBENVIRON CAIRO 2011 intends to discuss the latest scientific advances in the field, to exchange knowledge and experiences, as well as to seek and highlight developments in managerial strategies and assessment tools for policy and decision makers at the planning level.

Since its launching during the Aalborg Conference in Denmark in 1994, the concept of the sustainable city has spread throughout the world. The aim of sustainable development now influences urban policies, management and practices both in the North and the South.

The Urbenviron Cairo 2011 addresses the subject of achieving Green Cities in an integrated way as well as in accordance with the principles of sustainability. It has become apparent that planners, environmentalists, architects, engineers, policy makers and economists have to work together in order to ensure that planning and development can meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations.

Until de 28th July they will be receiving abstracts for a presentation at the event.
