The Vasco Vilalva Prize 2011 for the heritage preservation and valuation, attributed by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, was awarded to Baixa House a project by José Adrião Arquitectos.

The rehabilitation process started in 2007, proposing a typological transformation, converting it into a short- term rental unit, having the flexibility of turning into a permanent residential unit in the future.

The jury, composed by Dalila Rodrigues, António Lamas, José Pedro Martins Barata and José Sarmento Matos, considered it an example of good practices in an area where urban redevelopment is specially sensitive.
